Sustainability has many aspects
We have fantastic news: Our company is now officially SuCCESS-certified!
The SuCCESS certification from the Sustainable Castor Association marks an important milestone for us – and for everyone involved in responsible and sustainable production of castor oil.
What Is SuCCESS?
The SuCCESS programme stands for "Sustainable Castor Caring for Environmental & Social Standards" and is comparable to Fair Trade – but specifically for the castor oil supply chain. Its aim is to make production more sustainable and socially responsible.
Why Is This So Important?
- Social Responsibility: The rights and working conditions of farmers in India are actively protected and improved.
- Environmental Protection: Sustainable farming methods are promoted, such as improved water management and soil conservation.
- Transparency: The entire supply chain is made traceable and verifiable.
Do the Farmers Benefit Directly?
Yes – the programme ensures that:
- Farmers receive training and access to better cultivation methods. They receive fair compensation and additional incentives for their sustainable production methods.
- Their living conditions are improved (e.g., through health and safety measures).
This is a holistic approach that considers both ecological and social aspects.
What Does This Mean for Us?
Castor oil is already a renewable raw material. The SuCCESS certification is an important milestone in our continuing sustainability efforts. We are not switching entirely to certified castor oil yet, but we are consciously taking the first steps: Together with our customers, we aim to transition part of our sourcing to the more sustainable mass-balance variant. Being involved from the outset demonstrates our commitment to responsible supply chains!
The certification proves that the products we process and trade come from sustainably grown castor and are traceable
Sustainability is more than just a concept for our company – it is part of our DNA and motivates us every day. We take responsibility not only for the environment, but for the entire value chain. At the same time, we see sustainability as an opportunity: it opens new ways to create value and secure our competitiveness for the long term.
